Stray is a fun game that focuses on a cat trying to explore its way across a cyber city with some issues, to say the least. You’ll run into a host of NPCs, including B-12, Companions, and Zurks.
Stray doesn’t have a primary antagonist. But the Zurks are going to get in your way. In this post, we’ll discuss what Zurks are and their role in Stray.
Explaining what Zurks are in Stray
Zurks in Stray are bacteria created by humans to eat garbage. But like all sci-fi horror stories, Zurks eventually went out of control. They strayed (pun intended) from their original goal and began to eat everything, including trash, flesh, and metal. So the Zurks are a danger to any living organism.
The story does not confirm whether Zurks ate all the humans, as the game doesn’t answer why humans were wiped out. Our personal theory is that peoples’ fear of the Zurks led to humans losing control of themselves and wiping each other out. They used the Zurks as an excuse to justify killing each other.
Zurks are most often found in the Sewers of the city. You can tell what they look like because they’re a giant mass of big eyes that glob on to your cat in an attempt to kill it. They can be killed by lights which is why your cat is given a UV weapon to fight against them. But if you’re aiming for The Pacifist trophy, don’t use your weapon against the Zurks in the sewers.
