As a Rock and Steel-type Pokemon, Stakataka has great natural resistances. Stakataka is immune to Poison moves. Stakataka takes reduced damage from Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves.
Combined with its super high Defense stat, and decent attack stats, Stakataka is a beast (pun intended) taking lots of damage while slowly damaging its opponents in return.
For reference, here are Stakataka’s base stats:
- HP: 61
- Attack: 131
- Defense: 211
- Special Attack: 53
- Special Defense: 101
- Speed: 13
- Total: 570
But every Pokemon has a weakness – including Stakataka.
What is Stakataka’s Weakness?
As a Rock and Steel-type Pokemon, Stakataka is weak against Fighting, Ground, and Water-type moves. Stakataka takes 4x damage from Fighting and Ground-type moves, and 2x damage from Water-type moves.
Players can use Ground-type Pokemon like Garchomp and Water-type Pokemon like Vaporeon to heavily damage Stakataka. These Pokemon benefit from the 50% STAB damage bonus when using moves that match their type, so they’re a great option if you want to beat Stakataka quickly to whittle down its high defenses. Fighting and Ground-type moves are especially effective since Stakataka’s base Defense of 211 is one of the highest of any Pokemon in the series, so the 4x damage helps a lot.
Pokemon that know Ground-type and Fighting-type moves like Earthquake and Rock Tomb deal extra damage to Stakataka.
