Who is Molly in ACNH?
Molly is a duck villager with a Normal personality. She was first added to Animal Crossing when New Leaf was released. She has been in the rest of the games ever since, including the recent addition to the series, New Horizons.
Her birthday is on March 7th, making her star sign Pisces.
Molly’s character design takes inspiration from brown mallard ducks. As you can see from her design, she has white, yellow, and brown feathers all over her. Noticeable dark brown markings are on her face too.
Young or female mallard ducks actually have yellow feathers on their faces, which you can also see on Molly’s face. That settles it – she’s a mallard duck!
Molly also has huge red blushes on her cheeks, big oval eyes, and a yellow bill. Her feet are yellow too. The tips of her wings have white feathers.
In New Leaf, she wears a Canary Shirt, but she now wears a Pintuck Pleated Dress in New Horizons. You can also see her walking around town with a White Shiny Bows Parasol. When the weather is pouring, she’ll use a Dotted Raincoat.
Molly’s English name possibly came from the word mallard. This suits her well due to her mallard character design.
In Japanese, her name is Kamomi. The Japanese word for wild duck is actually “kamo” so her original name definitely suits her too.
In fact, both of her names are word plays related to ducks. Clever, Nintendo!
Molly loves saying “quackidee” a lot. As a duck villager, this catchphrase is perfect for her. Meanwhile, in Japanese, she says “soukamo” in her conversations. It’s a combination of an agreeing expression and a duck pun.
Once you’ve built up your friendship with her, Molly will give you a framed photo of her as a sign of her friendship with you. At the back, her favorite saying is actually written on it.
It says: “Like water off a duck’s back.” This shows her positive outlook in life as a Normal duck villager.
Molly is a Normal villager. This means that she will be sweet and kind to the player. She will always be happy to see you and will give you encouraging words to cheer you up.
Normal villagers are called as such for a reason. In previous games, they were the only ones who had relatively normal and pleasant interactions with the player. Other personalities can be too mean-spirited or dramatic.
Molly will always be pleasant to other personalities. If she has Snooty neighbors, she will ask them for advice regarding fashion or how to carry herself. With Peppy friends, she will gladly talk about music and their popstar dreams.
Big Sisters can be a source of guidance for a Normal duck villager like Molly. Big Sisters are no-nonsense, practical villagers, so they will give pragmatic life advice to Molly, which she is thankful for.
Despite being sweet, Molly can still clash a bit with other personalities on the island. Lazy villagers can be too laid-back and tactless with their words sometimes. Smug villagers can fluster Molly with their flirting or hoity-toity talk.
Jocks can offer exercise tips to her, but can get too eager and excited. Cranky neighbors often don’t understand other personalities, but Molly will still be pleasant and gracious to them.
If you do have another Normal villager on your island, Molly will interact with them the best. Normal villagers love baking and reading, and these shared hobbies will bring lots of joy to Molly.
Molly has the Nature hobby. This means you will often find this cute duck reading books about flowers, bugs, and other nature-related subjects.
What is Molly’s personality in ACNH?
Molly’s personality is Normal. She is a Normal duck villager.
She is not that rare to get. There are 17 ducks in New Horizons, and only two of those are Normal ducks.
Molly is definitely one of the cutest villagers in Animal Crossing. Her popularity in the Animal Crossing community over the years is proof of that.

AC Molly has changed her sleeping time over the years. In previous video games of the series, she would sleep at 9:00 PM and rise at 5:00 AM for Animal Crossing, or 1:00 AM sleep time and 5:00 AM wake-up time for Wild World and City Folk.
In New Leaf and New Horizons, Molly will sleep at 12:00 AM and wake up at 6:00 AM. Knowing her schedule will help you time your interactions with her, as well as know when you can give her gifts.
But thanks to an update, you can slightly change when your villagers will sleep and get up. Speak to Isabelle to change the ordinance implemented on your island.
There are four ways to get Molly to move to your island.
New Horizons introduced Mystery Tours to the series. Using a Nook Miles Ticket, you fly to a random uninhabited island. If you have an empty plot on your island, you can meet one villager per Mystery Tour island who you can invite back.
To meet Molly, you will need luck, patience, and some tickets. Thanks to some observant players, the game rolls for species first before choosing a personality. If you’re lucky, your game will roll for duck, then Normal. There are two Normal ducks in New Horizons, so it’s a 50-50 chance for you to get Molly.
You get a few Campsite visitors per month on your island. To get Molly to visit, it helps if you don’t have any Normal villagers on your island. This is according to game data some players have observed or datamined.
This method still needs a lot of patience and luck. If she does visit, she might ask to play a game of cards with you before wanting to move in.
Scanning her Amiibo Card is the easiest method to invite Molly. She will immediately show up as a visitor.
You can also invite another player’s “in boxes” Molly. This means their Molly is leaving and you can invite her to move to your island. Usually, other players will offer this as a transaction or a trade.
Molly has a simple and homey house in New Horizons. The exterior has an Orange Thatch Roof, with Light Brown Log Exterior walls, and a Maple Wooden Door that welcomes you to her humble abode.
Inside, her room is cozy and adorable, befitting a cute duck like her. She uses a Lattice Wall with Light Herringbone Flooring for her wallpaper and floor.
Some of her furniture are Wooden Simple Bed, Antique Bureau, Wooden Bookshelf, Fancy Violin, and a Music Stand. She also has a Cute Music Player that plays K.K. Ballad. Quite the cultured music lover, Molly!
Overall, the design and colors of her house suit her duck theme.
In New Horizons, you can increase your friendship points with Molly when you talk to her every day and give her gifts. If you’re stumped on what items to get her, this handy-dandy gift guide might help!
