First introduced in Generation 7 with the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon, Kommo-o has made a name for itself as a must-have Pokemon in your party. Kommo-o is one of the few to be considered to be a Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon because of its high base stats (more on that later).
As one of the strongest Fighting and Dragon-type Pokemon in the series, Kommo-o has great natural resistances. Kommo-o takes reduced damage from Rock, Bug, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, and Dark-type moves. That’s a lot of resistances. These types are all prevalent in the endgame of the mainline Pokemon games and competitive play so it helps to be resistant to them.
Combined with its high base stats that are well-balanced between offense, defense, and Speed, Kommo-o is one of the toughest Pokemon to fight in any game throughout the series. Kommo-o can deal lots of damage while absorbing hits in return.
For reference, here are Kommo-o’s base stats:
- HP: 75
- Attack: 110
- Defense: 125
- Special Attack: 100
- Special Defense: 105
- Speed: 85
- Total: 600
But every Pokemon has a weakness – including Kommo-o.
What is Kommo-o Weak Against?
As a Fighting and Dragon-type Pokemon, Kommo-o is weak to Flying, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves. Kommo-o takes 4x damage from Fairy-type moves, and 2x damage from Ice, Dragon, Flying, Psychic and Fairy-type moves.
Players can use Ice-type Pokemon like Alolan Ninetales, Dragon-type Pokemon like Garchomp, and Fairy-type Pokemon like Sylveon to heavily damage Kommo-o. These Pokemon benefit from the 50% STAB bonus when using moves that match their type, so they’re a great option if you want to beat Kommo-o quickly to tear through its high defenses. Fairy-types work especially well because Fairy-type moves deal 4x damage to Kommo-o and Fairy-type Pokemon are immune to Kommo-o’s Dragon-type moves.
Pokemon that know Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves like Ice Beam, Dragon Claw, and Dazzling Gleam can also deal extra damage to Kommo-o.
