The original baby Pokémon, Togepi, and its evolutions, Togetic and Togekiss, return in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
You can find Togepi pretty early on in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but it’s not easy to find. If you want a living Pokédex, finding three of them can be hard.
Where to find Togepi in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
After players have calmed down the Noble Kleavor, they will get a mission to go to the Crimson Mirelands. There is a place called Ursa’s Ring close to the Bogbound Camp. The Droning Meadow is on the other side of the river from Ursa’s Ring. Togepi can sometimes be found in Cottonsedge Prairie, which is to the north of Droning Meadow. As a rare spawn, it shows up less often than Pachirisu and Petilil, which are more common.
Without Basculegion, you can’t cross the river. However, some players have been able to cross the river by making Wyrdeer do a running leap. If players don’t want to waste time trying to jump across, they can go north from Bogbound Camp and go around Lake Valor to get to Cottonsedge Prairie. It’s a long walk, but it’s the only way to get to Cottonsedge Prairie without riding on Basculegion or jumping with Wyrdeer.
Players can find a Togepi on one of the islands near Tranquility Cove in the Cobalt Coastlands once they have Basculegion. Togepi might also show up at the Bathers’ Lagoon, which is to the far left of the Coastlands Camp and the Deadwood Haunt.
If a Togepi sees the player, it will probably run away, so sneak up on it and catch it. Trainers should try to help Togepi with some of its research tasks for the Pokedex as they get to know it better.
How to evolve Togepi into Togekiss
To get Togepi to evolve into Togetic, you’ll need to max out its friendship level. You can do this by using it in battle and not letting it faint, by helping it gather materials, or by giving it Exp. Candies. It will tell you when it’s ready to evolve, and the Pokéball next to it will blink. Togepi can evolve at any level.
You can always use the Friendship Checker by the pastures in Jubilife Village to see how close you are to reaching the maximum level of friendship.
Trainers can talk to Belamy in Jubilife Village to find out how friendly they are with Togepi. But they must first finish Request 28: Measuring Your Compatibility. After you finish Mission 7: The Frenzy of the Lord of the Woods, all you have to do is talk to Belamy near the Pastures.
Friendship can go up or down depending on how well Togepi does in battle or what medicine it is given. If players aren’t careful, they can lose Friendship with Togepi, which slows down evolution. Friendship with Togepi should be around 225.
Trainers should keep the following in mind when trying to make Togepi more friendly:
- Togepi should stay in the Party.
- Tell Togepi to gather apricorns, berries, or minerals/rocks.
- Don’t let Togepi pass out in battle.
- Give it NO Remedies. Remedies are like medicinal herbs in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, but they will hurt Friendship. In battle, if Togepi’s health needs to be fixed, use a Potion instead.
Don’t make Togepi fight Pokemon 30 levels stronger than it. If you lose to a Pokemon that is 30 levels higher or lower than you, it will hurt your friendship a lot. If a Pokemon with 200 or more Friendship points faints in battle against a Pokémon that is 30 levels higher than it, it will lose 10 Friendship points.
In contrast to games like Brilliant Diamond/Shinning Pearl, once Togepi’s Friendship is at 225, it does not need to level up again. If players just want to feed it Experience Candies instead of having it in their party, raising its level by 15–20 should be enough to get it to the Friendship Level Togepi needs to be in order to evolve. Watch the Poke Ball symbol next to Togepi’s name. If it’s glowing, it can evolve by moving the cursor over Togepi’s status and pressing the X button.
How to Evolve Togetic into Togekiss
In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Togetic can evolve into Togekiss with a Shiny Stone at any level. Togetic can be evolved into Togekiss at any level. You can get a Togetic by evolving a Togepi or by catching one in the sky at Cottonsedge Prairie or Bolderoll Slope in Crimson Mirelands.
Shiny Stones can be bought for 1200 Merit Points at the Merit Shop next to Galaxy Hall.
Where find Togetic and Togekiss in the wild
If you don’t want to go through the friendship and evolution process, you can find Togetic and Togekiss in the wild. The only way to catch them, unlike Togepi, is with a Feather/Wing/Jet Ball.
There are two places in Crimson Mirelands where you can see Togetic flying around. Look up and to the right of Cottonsedge Prairie. A Togetic will be flying around in circles, so try to get as close to it as you can from the ground. If a player wants to catch it, they will have to throw it at the right time. Near the river by Bolderoll Slope, there is another Togetic.
Back in the Obsidian Fieldlands, to the north of Sandgem Flats and right outside of Lake Verity, there is a mountain that players can climb with Sneasler. You’ll see plenty of Togekiss flying around.
