From July 27th to August 15th, 2022, Genshin Impact will run the Hidden Strife Event! The event introduces players to Diluc’s past and involves seven battle challenges. These challenges will help the Dark Knight finish off remnants of the Abyss Order caused by a weird Ley Line on the Falcon Coast.
Unlocking the Hidden Strife Event
Before you jump right into the event, there are a couple of prerequisites you need to meet first:
- Adventure Rank 25 or higher
- Archon Quest Prologue: Act III – Song of the Dragon and Freedom must be completed
- Diluc’s Story Quest Noctua Chapter: Act I – Darknight Hero’s Alibi must be completed
Once this has all been completed, you’ll receive an event quest titled Phantom of the Past. Using your quest navigator, go to the Dawn Winery and speak to Adeline. You then want to head to the Falcon Coast, where you’ll investigate what remains of a camp before inspecting a red Ley Line. Finally, you’ll be using Diluc in the Red Dead of Night outfit to defeat enemies, which will fully unlock the Hidden Strife event!
Hidden Strife Event Gameplay and Mechanics
So how does this event even work? Going to the Hidden Strife Waypoint, you can interact with a red Ley Line and find the seven challenges mentioned earlier. This will unlock over time during the first week of the event. Completing all the challenges on any three difficulties will earn you Primogem rewards. You’ll get 60 for each challenge, with a total of 420.
Vicious Battle and Dire Straits
These Hidden Strife Challenges have two different modes: Vicious Battle and Dire Straits. Completing a challenge on Vicious Battle mode with any difficulty will unlock the corresponding Dire Straits mode. Dire Straits is challenging and will be much more complex than its Vicious Battle counterpart. However, finishing Dire Straits will only grant you the small reward of some Mystic Enhancement Ores, so it’s okay if you would rather skip that mode entirely.
Ley Line Residue
For each challenge and game mode, you’ll see Ley Line Residue, also known as the battle bonuses you’ll get for meeting specific conditions. Make sure that you thoroughly read through these and build a team that will be able to meet these conditions, especially when it comes to the difficult Dire Straits mode!
Once you’ve chosen your challenge, you’ll get the option to choose the difficulty. Each challenge will have three difficulties: Perilous, Quandary, and Desperate. Completing the hardest difficulty, Desperate, will grant special rewards on top of the lower difficulties’ rewards.
If you can defeat the Desperate difficulty, I would recommend starting with that to get all the rewards. However, if you only care about Primogems, then go with Perilous. The difference between each difficulty mostly comes down to different objectives and time limits. To finish each challenge, you must complete each objective within the given time limit!
How to Claim Hidden Strife Event Rewards
To see all the rewards you can earn during the event, head to the event menu and check out the Reward Preview. As you complete challenges and difficulties, you can claim your rewards. Harder difficulties will earn you more rewards, so skipping straight to the Desperate difficulty will save you time!
Is the Hidden Strife event worth doing?
Yes, the event rewards a generous amount of Primogems and upgrade materials that can be used to roll for characters and upgrade your weapons and characters.
