Because there are so many different weapons and tools in Minecraft, determining the best enchantments for each item can be difficult. Swords can be enchanted with some of the best enchantments in the game, with higher-level enchantments yielding better results.
When you open an enchantment table and see all of the different kinds of enchantments that appear every time you enchant something new, it can be difficult to know what to look for.
If you want the most versatile and powerful sword possible, here is a list of the best Minecraft sword enchantments to improve your gameplay.
Sharpness boosts melee damage output. This enchantment increases the power of your sword against mobs. The exact amount of damage increased is determined by the level of Sharpness enchanted, so try to enchant to a higher level of Sharpness for the best results.
If you’re going to put effort into enchanting something, make sure to enchant it with Unbreaking to increase its durability. Depending on the level of Unbreaking, Unbreaking can help reduce durability depletion by not wearing it down on every use.
Fire Aspect (I-II)
This is one of the best Minecraft enchantments because it allows you to set fire to any target of your choice. This enchantment causes mobs to take repeated fire damage. Mobs that drop food, such as cows or sheep, will drop fully cooked products, saving you the trouble of cooking raw food in a smoker or furnace. Fire Aspect makes battles easier and faster against hostile mobs by dealing consistent damage over time.
This enchantment increases the quantity as well as the quality of mob drops. When enemies are hit with a Looting sword, they drop more items and the chance of getting rare items increases.
Looting yields more food per drop when hitting passive animal mobs, such as sheep or pigs, and is useful for farming a large amount of food quickly. Looting is also useful for quickly collecting mob drops from more difficult enemies, such as Blaze Rods from Blazes.
Enchanting items requires a lot of effort and hard-earned levels, so save yourself the trouble of constantly creating new weapons by applying Mending to your sword. This enchantment will increase the durability of your sword whenever you hit something that drops experience.
This includes almost all of the game’s mobs. Hostile mobs, which you will most likely be fighting with your sword, drop more experience and repair your sword faster.
Sweeping Edge (I-III)
This enchantment increases the damage of sweep attacks against mobs. It makes it easier and more efficient to hit multiple mobs while also knocking them back slightly. This enchantment is currently only available in Java Edition, but it will be added to Bedrock Edition in the future.
Increases the knockback performance of the sword that has this enchantment applied to it. This is especially useful for mobs like Zombies or Creepers, as you can push them away from you to avoid direct hits or explosions.
