As reported by Tom Henderson in the tweet below, the “Pro model” of consoles will feature 8K video, 2160p rendering, and RX7700XT GPUs.
Are new PS5 & Xbox models guaranteed?
In our view, this is part of TCL future-proofing their TV models. If the upgraded consoles do launch in 2023 or 2024, TCL wants to ensure their TVs are prepped to show off the full power of the new systems.
Many people are expecting Sony and Microsoft to come out with new models this generation. With the mid-generation release of the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One, players are now expecting a PS5 Pro and new Xbox model. Both Sony and Microsoft have been on an acquisition binge lately, and likely want to showcase their new IPs with more powerful hardware.
With PS5s still dealing with stock issues, it’ll be interesting to see how the mid-generation console upgrades work out. Many video games in the past 2 years have been released as cross-gen titles because players are having a hard time getting their hands on the newest consoles.
Regardless, we look forward to seeing what Sony and Microsoft have in store for us.
