A new leak suggests PlayStation players will be the first to get access to the open beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The leaked files were found within Call of Duty: Vanguard.
The Modern Warfare 2 release date was revealed today. Leakers were able to find the special editions of Modern Warfare 2 Vanguard’s files. These files revealed the bonus perks that come with each version of MW2. The files mentioned the open beta with text strings revealing that it will come first to PS4 and PS5.
As reported by @CharlieIntel on Twitter, pre-ordering the Cross-Gen Bundle or Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 2 grants early access to the open beta.

Even thought Microsoft has acquired Activision, this doesn’t affect the game’s current commitments to the PlayStation. Historically, PlayStation has had exclusive marketing rights to Call of Duty releases and exclusive content.
Pre-ordering the Cross-Gen Bundle or the Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 2 will grant you early access to the game’s open beta. A small tidbit at the end of the leaked advertisement suggests PlayStation owners will get to play the beta before anyone else. The text says, “Welcome to the new era of Call of Duty. Pre-order the Cross-Gen Bundle for Early Access to the Open Beta — first on PS4 and PS5.”
The full Modern Warfare 2 reveal is set for June 8, 2022, so more details will be revealed then. We personally can’t wait for the reveal as the deluge of leaks has made it sound like Modern Warfare 2 might be the best Call of Duty release in years. We’re expecting a DMZ mode and more details about Warzone 2.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases on October 28, 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Modern Warfare 2 beta will likely place first PlayStation consoles with a later beta period for other platforms.
