Bungie just dropped the trailer for the next season of Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted. It looks spooky good. Season of the Haunted launches May 24, 2022.
Read on after the trailer below to see all the details about the new season.
The story of Season of the Haunted
Season of the Haunted focuses on a returning character: Calus. Calus has a lust for power and now serves a new master (we suspect it’s The Witness). His ship, the Leviathan, is now corrupted and is back to our galaxy. Calus sets his sights on the power promised by the Pyramid ship lying dormant on the Moon.
When Leviathan connects with the Pyramid, Nightmares of humanity’s past awaken and threaten to torment any who dare intervene. Stare into the abyss and find bravery within the mantle of the reaper and the steel of the scythe.
New seasonal activities
Season of the Haunted introduces 2 new seasonal activities.
Scalable Activity: Nightmare Containment
Evil resonates within the hull of the emperor’s wretched vessel. Summon the most challenging Nightmares and cleanse them with fire.
Weekly Mission: Sever
Navigate the Leviathan’s Underbelly, uncover the truth behind Calus’s sinister plan, and sever the Nightmares he controls. This mode looks to heavily involve your fellow Guardian, Crow.
New exotics, weapons and armor
Like every new season, there’s a bunch of new gear to loot.
Season of the Haunted introduces a new Exotic sidearm called Trespasser that deals Arc damage.
Emperor Calus loves to collect shiny things. His weapon collection is nothing to scoff at either. Fight against the Nightmares to collect Opulent Weapons with unique effects.
New Seasonal Weapons
New seasonal weapons will be introduced including Fusion Rifles, Glaives, Rocket Launchers, and more.
New armor sets
New armor sets are coming for the Titan, Warlock, and Hunter classes. The sets give us a dystopian, cyberpunk vibe.
Season pass details
With the Season Pass, players will immediately unlock the new Exotic Sidearm, Trespasser and its catalyst. The pass also rewards XP boosts that speed up Seasonal ranks and reward track unlocks.
The Season Pass also includes armor ornaments (aka transmog) to give your character a demonic fire and brimstone appearance.
Season of the Risen saw the launch of Void 3.0 that was super popular and well-received by fans. Season of the Haunted will launch the Solar 3.0 rework. While Bungie hasn’t given details yet, we saw a few glimpses of what to expect in the trailer:
- Warlocks get a Roy Mustang-esque snap that spits out a Solar grenade
- Titans get double the hammers for even more bonking
- Hunters get a Shatterdive-type ability that looks like it provides buffs and/or healing to party members
